Clear Your Sinuses Without Drugs




You can't breathe through your nose and your sinuses feel like someone has poured them full of concrete. Nasal congestion from a cold , flu, or allergies can leave you despreate for relief. Try a nose rinse-or a nasal irrigation to breathe easy again.

A nose rise washes out bacteria and viruses to prevent infection. It also removes pollen dust and mucus from your nose so medicine can do its job. All that can cut down on swellingin your sinuses to help you breathe easier. You can get some of these benefits from nasal spray, but nasal irrigation works better for peoplewith chronic sinus problems. Here is how to do a nose rinse.


  • Mix a quarter teaspoon noniodized salt into 8 ounces of warm water. Iodized salt can be iirritatiing over time. 
  • Add a quarter teaspoon of baking soda to the mixture. Baking soda acts like a buffer ti make the mixture less acidic, blocking the histamine reaction thats so common with chronic sinus inflamation.
  • Lean over the sinkwith your head down. Use a bulb syringe to squirt the into nostril. Hold that nostril shut to keep the solution from running out. Blow your nose a bit, and repeat with the other nostril.
Throw away any solution you don't use. dont save it for later it will be no go. Clean the bulb syringe after every use by filling it up with hot water. Swishing it around in the syringe, then emptying it out completely. Place it upside down in a glass to drain.

You may need to repeat the nose rinse several times  each day if you prefer , you can use a special gadget called neti pot to do the job. You will find it in most drugstores.

The stir in 1/4 cup of honey into the oatmeal until blended well. spread over face and leave on for 12 minutes. Then rinse with cool not cold water and start enjoying the results. You should do this a couple times week.

Soup Can be really good for you but not in all cases. Never eat soup from a grocery store or restaurant with out checking the sodium content. Especially if you have health problems such as high blood pressure. Many soups are full of hidden salt and sugars. In fact, just one can of tomato soup made with milk has almost as much salt as five slices of bacon and more sugar than a blue berry muffin.  Its always better to make your own soup. So using the tomato soup as an example it is very important to read up on what what you are eating to stay healthy.

Healthy snacks to go: Apple Slices

It's so hard to eat healthy when you're in a hurry! With a little planning ahead you can healthy snacks ready when you are so you are less tempted to reach for sugary, highly processed foods like chips, cookies and snack cakes. One of my favorite healthy snacks is apple slices. Problem is I don't always have access to a knife or the time. They sell pre-cut baggies of apples but they are more expensive and who knows what they put on the apples to keep them crisp and from turning brown.
